How to export your Strava data
Strava supports a bulk export of your account archive. Baseline is not accepting Strava uploads in the MVP — we explain why below and point you to the original files that will give Baseline a better view of the same workouts.
Can you export this data?
Yes. Strava provides a bulk export from your account settings on strava.com. The download link arrives by email, and can take some time to prepare.
Step-by-step
- 1Open strava.com in a browser and sign in (bulk export is web-only).
- 2Go to Settings → My Account → Download or Delete Your Account.
- 3Choose Get Started under Download Request.
- 4Confirm your email address. Strava emails you a link to the archive when it's ready.
- 5Download the archive (a ZIP containing FIT / GPX / TCX files plus an activities.csv index).
What’s in the file
The archive is a ZIP containing the original activity files uploaded to Strava (usually FIT or GPX), plus an activities.csv index that lists every activity with its ID, date, distance and duration.
What Baseline does with it
Baseline does not accept Strava uploads or process Strava-sourced data in the MVP. Strava's API Policy (effective 1 June 2026) sets restrictions around using Strava Data in analytics and AI applications and around combining Strava Data with data from other sources. Rather than half-support Strava, we're keeping it as a guide only until we have a clear compliant path. For workouts that also live on Garmin or Concept2, upload the original file from there — you'll get the same activity in Baseline without going through Strava.
Common issues
- The archive can take a few hours to generate for accounts with many years of history.
- The download link in the email expires after a while; if it does, just start the request again.
- The activities.csv index isn't a complete record — the per-activity FIT/GPX files inside the archive are.
Privacy note
Because Baseline doesn't currently accept Strava uploads, you don't need to give us your Strava archive. If you'd rather Baseline see the activity, upload the original file from Garmin or Concept2 — those are the sources those workouts came from before Strava ever saw them.
Frequently asked
- Will Baseline support Strava uploads later?
- Possibly. We're waiting until we have a clear, compliant path under Strava's current API Policy. If and when we do, we'll update this guide and flip the status badge.
- What if I only track my rowing on Strava?
- In practice most rowing activities on Strava originated from a Garmin watch or a Concept2 PM5. The file Baseline actually wants is the FIT from Garmin, or the CSV from your Concept2 Online Logbook.
- Should I close my Strava account?
- No. Baseline sits alongside the tools you already use — keep Strava for social, routes and segments if that's how you use it.
Ready when your file is
Once you have your export, upload it to Baseline and get one joined-up profile across rowing, endurance and body metrics.
